OffandAway is a hotel accommodation auction site. It hosts a handful of select auctions each day and previews upcoming auctions, scheduled over the next 5-7 days. The company claims to offer deals on luxury, 4 and 5-star hotels that are 50-99 percent off regular advertised rates. Auctions are bid-to-win. This is how OffandAway describes their specific bid-to-win rules.
– Every auction starts at $0.00 and begins with 24 hours on the countdown timer.
– To participate, you must first purchase bids for $1 each.
– Placing a bid raises the auction price by $0.01 & makes you the top bidder.
– Once the timer reaches 2 minutes, each bid also adds up to 15 seconds to the timer – letting others respond to your bid.
– Bidding continues until time runs out. If you’re the top bidder when time expires, you win!
As the winner, you earn the right to book the auction suite for just the final auction price (this is separate from the cost of any bids used to win the auction).
Each suite has a wide range of availability – some as much as 8 months. However, because these are exclusive offers, we ask that you select your travel dates within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
OffandAway recently launched a private sales product that allows preview, 24-hour early access for registered members. This can be activated through Facebook “likes” of a specific property. The company launched in 2010.
