Geoloqi recently launched an early version of what promises to be an intriguing product. Its platform enables a smartphone user to track and share location data, location specific annotation and other geo-tagged information with others.
In essence Geoloqi is a location aware mobile messaging platform. It allows a user to plot her travels, record and receive geo-tagged notes and reminders and to share selected data with friends for specific intervals of time and based on location.
The platform has two main components: an open source server with an API layer that enables 3rd party developers to add Geoloqi based location services to their applications; and a mobile app that resides on a client smartphone, such as iPhone or Android based mobile phone.
The ability to track location in real-time, tag location with notes and share selectively with friends is a powerful idea. If executed well, Geologi’s platform will be one to watch over the coming months. And, if Geoloqi delivers a rich and functional API key a close eye on 3rd party Geoloqi apps.
